Pilot killed in Ontario plane crash mourned

Keystone Air is mourning the loss of one of its pilots, who died in Tuesday's plane crash in northwestern Ontario.

Fariborz Abasabady, 41, was one of the four killed in the crash in North Spirit Lake. The plane, an eight-seat Piper PA-31 Navajo, was on its landing approach when it slammed into a frozen lake and caught fire.

Winnipegger Brian Shead, 36, was the lone survivor.   Read more...

Plane crash near Vancouver airport injures 11

All nine people aboard a small plane heading to the British Columbia Interior were sent to hospital Thursday after it slammed onto a city street just outside Vancouver's International Airport.

Richmond RCMP reported late Thursday that the two crewmembers on the flight were in "very critical condition."

EDMONTON — It appears there was nothing wrong with the engine of a Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter before it fell from the sky and crashed into a farmer's field Wednesday evening, according to investigators.

Officials with the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) spent much of Thursday combing through the wreckage from Wednesday evening's deadly crash, about 1 km southeast of the Drayton Valley, Alta., airport.   Read more...

2 other people aboard Air Tindi Cessna Caravan survive

Two people died when an Air Tindi passenger plane crashed east of Yellowknife Tuesday afternoon, while two survivors were taken to hospital in undisclosed condition.

A Twin Otter medevac flight carrying the two survivors arrived in Yellowknife at about 6:30 p.m. MT Tuesday, officials confirmed. Both people have since been transferred to Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife.   Read more...

Identities released of dead pilots in Yellowknife crash

YELLOWKNIFE — The coroner of the Northwest Territories has released the names of the two people who were killed in a dramatic plane crash on a Yellowknife street.

The pilot was 36-year-old Trevor Jonasson and his 26-year-old co-pilot was Nicole Stacey -- both from Yellowknife.

Arctic Sunwest Charters has suspended flights until Monday as the airline deals with the aftermath of the crash.   Read more...

Harrison Lake plane crash victims' names released

Police have released the names of the student and pilot who were killed in a plane crash at the north end of Harrison Lake east of Vancouver on Tuesday.
